Hydrological forecast based on the new numerical weather model ICON
For operational weather forecasting the Federal Office of Meteorology and Climatology MeteoSwiss is now using the numerical model ICON (Icosahedral Nonhydrostatic Weather and Climate Model). ICON replaces the COSMO model that has been in use for several years. From the end of May 2024, the Federal Office for the Environment FOEN will use the ICON model as well as the basis for their hydrological forecast models.
